The Sills (And door Hinges...)

The sills had to come off. All the bolt holes that held the running boards on had just crumbled away when I took the bolts out... Not what I wanted...  The left bottom hinge also had seized up through lack of use, so it was flexing the hinge pillar and had come away from the side sill.  It's far too complicated to patch up, so I ordered both sides (Why do things by halves...) and we cut out the Side Sills and the bottom of the hinge which was about 6inches of the front pillar.

Looks a bit scary doesn't it with gaping holes in it!!  My brother came out to see how things were getting one and seriously thought the car was beyond help and couldn't see why we were bothering, but then if you saw it with this much metal missing, you'd wonder too!

(Janine: "......um.....great???...")

But along comes the mighty Jon with his trusty welder and does the job nicely.

Much better.

We now had to concentrate on the small gaps left over from hacking the sills and hinges out, and fix new Wing mountings...   Page 3 here we come. (Sadly no topless models. This is a saloon car...)
