Basingstoke Motoring Classic Show '97

In 1997 Our local club here in Basingstoke was invited to the Basingstoke Motoring Classic Show and my car was invited there to represent one discipline in VW Air-cooled motoring. They wanted one of each type of car, so we had Totally Standard Split Camper and custom low Split (of Brian's) Totally standard Beetle and custom Beetles - Mine being slammed and all that. and a Wizard Roadster. And we had a Karman Ghia too.

Here is our club stand.

Then throughout the day the show liked each club in turn to display it's cars by saying one or 2 words about their car and then doing a short parade around the main arena.

Here we are all lining up waiting to get into the arena. And one of me in the queue.

Shortly after this, I met a guy that had a Green '72 Bug that had a 2000cc Type 4 engine. Trouble for him was his car had rotted right through, so I had the car at a steal and fitted the engine to my car along with the Empi 8spoke wheels.

Then It came off the road as I got all into motorbikes and it kind of didn't get seen for a few yrs.

Jump to 2001 see how this looked when it got it's resurrection
